MITHRIL WELSH PONIES
NEWS
A great day at the APOB dressage day - 9th April
Our young mare Mithril Kismet, trained and ridden by Lou Maguire, won both her Novice tests and was Novice Champion. We were chuffed with her win and thrilled with her score in the 2B - 79.39%.

Mithril Hero’s Return, trained and ridden by Louise Maguire, (click here to contact Lou) has been awarded an ‘Achiever Award’ by the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Australia Inc, in recognition of the part he is playing in promoting Welsh Ponies and Cobs in open company.
Thanks, Lou, for having faith in this lovely young pony and for bringing your knowledge and dedication to the task of bringing him on.

WPCS Achiever Award for
Mithril Hero’s Return
The Australian Pony Owners and Breeders run a great day for Dressage Ponies annually.
Our team had a successful day, and even more importantly, a stress free and happy day at this really well run event.
Classes range from Tiny Tots led, doing PCAV Test 5A, to Advanced and the Preliminary and Novice Tests are run in age groups.
It’s serious dressage - but it’s fun too.
Mithril Hero’s Return, trained and ridden by Louise Maguire, gave a very good account of himself in his second only Medium Test, scoring 68.06% and placing third.
He was equal first in the Elementary 3B and second in the 3A, missing out on the championship by a narrow margin - 0.57%. Congratulations to the winner, Tiffany Greenhill’s Glyndebourne Monopoly. Really nice score in the 3A - 75.14%.

Our young Section D stallion Westbury Spitfire, known to his many friends as ‘Rex’, gave a good account of himself, with a second place in the 1A and a score of 66.00%.
We are thrilled with the job Rex’s trainer and rider Kristy Sparkes is doing with this pony.

Dressage with the Stars
We had a rather disappointing time at DWTS - but consider it was a great achievement to qualify three ponies to be there.
Photos of Mithril Hero’s Return, the only qualifier for the 6 year old, Mithril Kismet, sixth in the 5 year old and Westbury Spitfire, down the list in the 4 year old, but winning many hearts with his calm attitude and masculine good looks - several mares are booked to him for next season after this event, so there are always plenty of judges ringside! The dressage ponies doing their other job - being great ponies for kids
April, 2011. Cara and James having a great time on Hero (who is competing Official Medium) and Kismet (competing Official Novice). Kismet will eventually join the broodmare band at Mithril, but just now, she is having too much fun with Cara and James to think about that.
Steph’s jumping is coming along - ‘Tashara had to give her a bit of encouragement to jump the wave but once she has seen it she seems to be fine no matter how high it goes.’
“Megan and Harriet went to Langwarrin HT on the weekend and came 2nd. We were stoked!!! Going into the cross country they were running about 4th, a clear round bought them up to 2nd place. Only got a couple of pics as I was madly trying to run from spot to spot so I could see them.
Megan came through the finish line and dropped reins and gave Harriet the biggest hug.”
Well done,
Megan & Harriet
Not quite four years old, Jim is exceeding all expectations in his schooling.
